Delta Dental of Iowa is a member company of the national Delta Dental Plans Association. With Delta Dental National Coverage we can offer plans tailored to your organization's needs throughout all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Your employees will have access to the nation's largest dental network and to a centralized claims processing system that assures prompt and accurate payment of your group's claims.

Which Delta Dental network of dentists should I choose for my employees, Delta Dental Premier or Delta Dental PPO?

The Delta Dental Premier network provides access to more than 90% of the dentists in Iowa and over 75% of the providers nationwide.  The Delta Dental PPO network includes one-third of the dentists in Iowa and more than 30% of the dentists nationwide. The PPO network offers greater savings to employers and employees, while the Premier network offers greater access to providers. 

Delta Dental can provide a list of providers in our networks by geographic area based on your employee locations nationwide. We can provide the information in list form and on a map to show the distance between employees and the nearest Delta Dental dentist.

Does Delta Dental offer products for individuals that are not eligible for group coverage? 

Delta Dental has an individual product available for Iowa residents. This product is designed for retirees, self-employed, students and others that may not be eligible for group coverage. 


What is the "Delta Dental Difference?"

This refers to Delta Dental's five-point cost management system that is entirely unique to Delta Dental. It includes a majority of dentists in Iowa and nationwide who have signed an agreement to provide valuable cost and quality assurances that save money for our groups and subscribers. This agreement includes credentialing, Participating Dentists' agreement to no-balance billing (absorbing any charges beyond their filed fees), in-office records verification, and agreement to adhere to claim and utilization policies and recoupment of fees.

What is Delta Dental's maximum plan allowance (MPA), or allowed amount?

The maximum plan allowance (MPA) is the amount which equals the lesser of the covered charge for a service, supply, or any dental procedure covered under the dental plan or an amount which Delta Dental establishes annually as its maximum allowable fee for the same service, supply, or procedure.

Can a Delta Dental dentist "balance bill" for charges above Delta Dental's MPA? 

No, a Delta Dental dentist cannot balance bill the enrollee the difference between their charged fee and the Delta Dental MPA or allowed amount.
