What is The Delta Dental Difference? This refers to Delta Dental's five-point cost management system that is entirely unique to Delta Dental. It includes a majority of dentists in Iowa and nationwide who have signed an agreement to provide valuable cost and quality assurances that save money for our groups and subscribers. This agreement includes credentialing, Participating Dentists' agreement to no-balance billing (absorbing any charges beyond their filed fees), in-office records verification, and agreement to adhere to claim and utilization policies and recoupment of fees. How is the Maximum Plan Allowance (MPA) - Delta Dental Allowed Amount - calculated? The Maximum Plan Allowance (MPA) is the amount which equals the lesser of the covered charge for a service, supply, or any dental procedure covered under the dental plan or an amount which Delta Dental establishes annually as its maximum allowable fee for the same service, supply, or procedure. For all dental procedures covered under the plan, the maximum allowable fee is established by Delta Dental of Iowa for a covered dental procedure that is dentally necessary and dentally appropriate. It is developed from various sources, such as contracts with dentists, input from out dental consultants, the simplicity or complexity of the procedure, and the billed charge for the same procedures by dentists in Iowa, and a leading economic indicator. For services billed by dentists outside of Iowa, the maximum allowable fee is based on information from the state's Delta Dental member company. |
