Contact your senator today - HF2229 could have a $15 million out-of-pocket impact on Iowa consumers!

Delta Dental is committed to keeping dental benefits affordable for employers and their employees. Delta Dental subscribers receive fee protections for many dental services. Over the last month, the Iowa Dental Association has been aggressively lobbying for a bill in both the House and Senate that would overturn a dental carrier’s ability to set maximum fee limits on covered and non-covered services in Iowa.

Click here to view HF2229.  HF2229 was passed last week in the Iowa House and includes a provision that would unravel important consumer protections. Section 2b of this bill opens the door to allow dentists to balance bill Delta Dental subscribers. If this bill passes, it would be a stunning defeat for Iowa consumers. Delta Dental negotiates dental service fees on behalf of our clients and their employees. This bill could open the door to higher out-of-pocket costs for subscribers and could costs an additional $15 million annually.

As of March 3rd, HF2229 passed in the House and is in the Senate Commerce Committee for debate on Thursday, March 4th. Dentists are actively lobbying their legislators! We are asking Delta Dental subscribers and customers to take a few minutes to email their senator and ask him/her to oppose HF2229. You can find the contact information for your legislators through the General Assembly website at http://www.legis.state.ia.us/FindLeg/

This bill will pass unless the legislators start hearing from YOU!

Non-Covered Services Policy Provides Cost Protection

Delta Dental of Iowa is committed to keeping dental care affordable and improving the oral health of Iowans. We have a strong network of dedicated participating dentists who provide excellent and quality services to subscribers.

Delta Dental of Iowa has implemented a national non-covered services policy. This policy establishes a fee ceiling when an enrollee goes to a Delta Dental dentist for certain non-covered dental services (adult orthodontia, teeth whitening and implants) and acts as a consumer protection measure against a possible excessive fee. This fee ceiling also applies to charges not covered because it exceeds the enrollee's annual plan maximum or because of deductibles, waiting periods and frequency limitations.

This policy was effective January 1, 2010, and applies to services provided by Iowa Delta Dental participating dentists.
