Administrative Services Contract (ASC) - Self Funded Plans
As group's become larger in size and more willing to accept risk the more likely they will be interested in a self-insured financial arrangement. Under this type of arrangement, the group assumes the risk and Delta Dental of Iowa administers the dental benefits and holds the claim reserve. The group is responsible for the payment of claims plus an administrative fee.
Employers can choose plans based on the Delta Dental Premier (managed fee-for-service) or Delta Dental PPO (preferred provider option) networks (see below for full description). To obtain a quote please contact your local agent or Delta Dental at 877-423-3582 ext. 15567 or you can email Delta Dental at marketing@deltadentalia.com.
Fees are All-Inclusive
Delta Dental provides the following services for self-funded groups:
  • National network capabilities
  • Customer service
  • Management reports
  • Claims processing and payments

Financing Self-Insured Plans: Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) Transfer of Funds
To reimburse Delta Dental for claims paid and for administrative expenses, Delta Dental requires ACH, an electronic transfer of funds that is convenient and economical.

ACH uses a nationwide electronic clearinghouse operated by the Federal Reserve System. Authorized funds are transferred automatically between banks. This method of transfer offers the advantage that the exact claim dollars are transferred to Delta Dental as checks are issued, resulting in better cash management.

Delta Dental Premier
This plan provides traditional fee-for-service benefits. Delta Dental Premier offers the flexibility to include custom-designed benefits which allow each group to tailor its dental coverage to its own needs and budget. Employees may see any dentist they wish, although they enjoy the best possible benefits of their plan when they see a Delta Dental Premier dentist. About 90% of Iowa dentists are Delta Dental Premier dentists.

Delta Dental PPO
This is Delta Dental's preferred provider option. In most cases, the enrollee will receive a richer benefit and have lower out-of-pocket expenses when going to a Delta Dental PPO dentist.  The enrollee has the flexibility to choose a larger network of dentists by going to a Delta Dental Premier or a non-participating dentist. More than 30% of the dentists in Iowa participate in the Delta Dental PPO network.
