DeltaVision Free Senior Vision Clinic
Delta Dental of Iowa in partnership with Prevent Blindness Iowa and OneSight, an independent nonprofit providing access to quality vision care and glasses, is bringing a volunteer-led, free, vision clinic to Des Moines. This three-day clinic is in celebration of Delta Dental’s 50th anniversary and 10 years of selling DeltaVision benefit plans.
We have been working with area senior sites in Polk County to identify seniors in need of vision care and glasses. The clinic will provide a comprehensive exam including dilatation and glasses if needed. Patients who need glasses will pick their frames and glasses will be delivered to their meal site within three weeks.
We Need You and Your Staff!
OneSight is providing the vision exam equipment, glasses, and clinic management. Delta Dental and Prevent Blindness are managing the volunteer recruitment in Central Iowa. We are currently looking for optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians, and medical professionals to provide vision care. The three-day clinic is expected to see 300 patients and requires the following volunteers:
- 20 Optometrist and Ophthalmologist (eye health and exam, refraction)
- 35 skilled volunteers (visual acuities, dilation and tonometry, frame fitting)
- 24 lay volunteers (registration, patient flow, frame selection)
On average, patients will spend 90 minutes to two hours in the clinic. To serve 100 patients through the clinic each day, we will have four lanes for vision care services. Click on the links below for more clinic details:
