Educate, Motivate, Activate: Access to Oral Health Care for Aging Iowans
The Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation’s mission is to improve the oral health of Iowans. In 2012, the Foundation announced two strategic visionary oral health goals to accomplish by 2020. One of the goals is that every Iowa nursing home resident and homebound elderly person will have access to oral health care.
On November 30, 2012, the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation held the first series of “actionable knowledge” sessions on oral health to convene interested stakeholders. To view the presentations, please click on the links below.

Questions to Consider Regarding Dental Insurance and Nursing Facilities
The promotion of good oral health through daily hygiene and routine dental visits is essential for residents. Oral hygiene is directly connected to systemic infections, nutritional intake, ability to speak without pain, and overall well-being. These brochures were created to serve as a resource for you when evaluating prospective oral health care plans. One brochure is targeted at nursing facility managers and the other is for residents and family members.
