Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation Board of Directors and Officers
The members of the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation Board of Directors represent various oral health stakeholders. The Board meets three times per year and has an annual planning retreat. Board members serve one-year terms and are eligible to be elected for nine terms.

Nafissa Cisse Egbuonye, PhD, MPH
Board Chair
Dr. Nafissa Cisse Egbuonye is the associate vice president of growth and community engagement for Molina Healthcare of Iowa, Des Moines. She received her bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and her master’s degree in Public Health from San Diego State University. She holds a PhD in Public Health Education from Texas A&M University.

Rowena Crosbie
Vice Chair
Rowena Crosbie is the President of Tero International, a company she founded in 1993. She holds a degree in management from the University of Manitoba.

President
April Schmaltz is the President & CEO for Delta Dental of Iowa. April graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned an MBA from Iowa State University.

Heidi Bell, OD
Board Member
Dr. Heidi Bell, OD practices at Elite Eye Care in Waukee. Dr. Bell graduated from Iowa State University and completed her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.

Board Member
Dr. Jeffrey Chaffin is the chief dental director at Delta Dental of Iowa. He graduated from University of Tampa and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska, MPH from the University of Michigan, MBA from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and MHA from Baylor University.

Suzanna de Baca is the CEO of Story Board Advisors and Faculty at ISU Ivy College of Business. Previously she served as the CEO of Business Publications Corporations, Des Moines. She received her undergraduate degree from Iowa State University (with Distinction) and her MBA from Harvard Business School.

Missy Gowey is the CEO for the Better Health Foundation in Davenport, Iowa. She received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University.

Board Member
Dr. Donna Grant practices general dentistry at Norwalk Family Dentistry in Norwalk. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Dr. Hayley Harvey, DDS is the dental clinic section chief and director of dental education for Broadlawns Medical Center. She graduated from University of Iowa with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree and Master of Science Degree.

Dr. Nathan Hehr, DDS practices general dentistry at Nettleton Dental Group in Mason City. Dr. Hehr received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa.

Board Member
Scott Raecker is the executive director for The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center and co-executive director for the Center for Public Democracy at Drake University, Des Moines. He received certification as a Character Development Specialist and Corporate Ethics Trainer from Josephson Institute of Ethics and Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell College.

Dr. Clark Stanford is the Dean and Professor of Prosthodontics at University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery and PhD degrees from the University of Iowa, and his MHA from the University of Illinois Chicago.

Juliann Van Liew is the Director of the Polk County Health Department. She attended Drake University before receiving her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.

Suzanne Heckenlaible is vice president public affairs of Delta Dental of Iowa. She has a bachelor's degree from Augustana College (Rock Island, IL) and Masters in Public Administration from Drake University. She has been with Delta Dental of Iowa since 2006.

Foundation Treasurer / Secretary
Sherry Perkins is senior vice president finance of Delta Dental of Iowa. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and is a Certified Public Accountant. She joined Delta Dental of Iowa in 2002.
