Delta Dental of Iowa Launches New Employer Benefit Options

Posted on September 14, 2023 in Corporate

Delta Dental of Iowa announces the launch of two new employer benefits available for open enrollment this fall. DeltaLife will provide employees life and disability insurance benefits, while Caregiven is a mobile app that supports employees navigating the journey of caring for another adult. Delta Dental will offer these new benefits as part of its employer product portfolio, which includes dental, vision and legal insurance for Iowa employers and their employees.

“As employers are looking to attract and retain employees, Delta Dental wants to help them focus on ways to support the wholistic well-being of their employees and stand out in the competitive job market,” said April Schmaltz, interim co-CEO. “By supporting employees through challenging life situations, employers have an opportunity to build an overall wellness culture and grow employee loyalty. We believe these products provide employers with a one-stop solution for their ancillary benefit offerings.”

Introducing DeltaLife

Life and disability insurance is a highly valued employee benefit and Delta Dental was looking for an opportunity to expand our best-in-class product offerings beyond dental, vision and legal. Delta Dental has partnered with OneAmerica, a Midwest-based insurance company, to provide employers with access to a variety of insurance products, including group life insurance, short-term disability and long-term disability. OneAmerica is a national provider of insurance and financial services with 145 years of experience in the industry and an A+ (Superior) A.M. Best rating.

There is a critical gap growing across the U.S. workforce. According to the Council for Disability Awareness, 51 million working adults in the U.S. lack adequate disability coverage, which puts them at risk for potentially severe financial difficulty should they need to miss work due to illness or injury. Each year, 5 percent of Americans will experience a short-term disability qualifying event.

With DeltaLife, employers can ensure their employees have access to cost-effective, flexible solutions that support their employees during life’s most difficult times. DeltaLife plans include voluntary and employer-paid options for small businesses and large employer groups. Iowa employers can rely on Delta Dental to deliver the same quality service they have come to expect from a local carrier with national presence.

Introducing Caregiven

Last fall, Delta Dental of Iowa announced the acquisition of Caregiven, a mobile app designed to support the journey of caring for an aging or ailing adult. Employers, wanting to provide Caregiven as part of an employee benefits package, can sign up on the Delta Dental website by November 30, 2023 to receive a no-cost 12-month trial.

Delta Dental understands as our population ages there is a greater need for an employee-benefit solution like Caregiven. With one in five U.S. employees providing care to an adult today, there is a great need for an app such as Caregiven to help navigate the experience for both the caregiver and their loved one. It is estimated that caregivers spend 45 hours per week caring for another adult, while working and balancing the needs of their personal and professional lives.

Caring for an ill, aging or special-needs adult can take a mental, physical and financial toll on employees. Caregiven provides anytime/anywhere access to resources, tools and a community of support, helping employees find fast answers and the help they need, and giving them back time and ability to focus on what is important to them.
